Visiting Hours: The Valley House Gallery Sculpture Garden is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Both the gallery and grounds are closed on Sunday. Please check in with one of the gallery personnel before you walk the garden. Areas Closed to Visitors: The building in the center of the property is a private residence and is not open to the public. Visitors should proceed around the right (west) side of this building to enter the back garden. The terrace behind the residence is also private. Visitors returning from the back garden that end up on the opposite (east) side of the residence should proceed north along the east side of the house, back to the blacktop driveway. The building across the parking lot from the gallery is also not open to visitors. Classes: With special permission, the gardens are open to university level art classes and individual plein air painters. Please contact the gallery well in advance so conflicts in scheduling can be avoided. All new classes and individuals need to be briefed on the rules of garden etiquette before they begin working in the garden. Notices: Please be vigilant while walking in the garden, especially with small children. The gardens are bordered on three sides by semi-developed and undeveloped land. In addition to rabbits, squirrels, and birds, there are also fire ants, snapping turtles and several varieties of poisonous snakes that have been spotted. Non commercial photography is permitted in the garden. We ask that individuals taking photographs avoid shooting individual sculpture to protect the artist's copyright. Please remember that the garden is not a public park. The sculpture is to be visually enjoyed, not climbed upon. The gardens are not available for any commercial or private functions. |
